There is no bad time of year to visit Uganda (The pearl of Africa). Even during the rainy seasons (March – June and October – November) it may rain for only one or two hours before the sun shines again. It rarely gets cold, but it is advisable to carry lightweight rain gear in the rainy season. It can get cold at night (especially in high areas such as Sipi / Mount Elgon, the Rwenzoris and Kisoro / Kabale) so bring a light jumper or a scarf.

Birding expeditions to those that are serious bird watchers, Uganda is arguably the most attractive country in Africa to bird watchers, not only to because of the unusually number of species recorded within its borders, but also because it offers birding safaris with easy access to several bird-rich habitats that are difficult to reach elsewhere. The key to Uganda’s diversity is its variety of habitats: arid semi-dessert, rich savannas, lowland and montane rain forests, vast wetlands, volcanoes and an Afro-alpine zone.
