Tanzania Safaris

Tanzania is a must visit destination in East African, a country known for its vast wilderness areas. Tanzania Safaris take you to the plains of Serengeti National Park, a safari mecca populated by the “big five” game (elephant, lion, leopard, buffalo, rhino), and Kilimanjaro National Park, home to Africa’s highest mountain. Offshore lie the tropical islands of Zanzibar, with Arabic influences, and Mafia, with a marine park home to whale sharks and coral reefs.

6 Days Wildlife Serengetti and Ngorongoro

No matter how often you visit the Serengeti its magic never palls. In this wild and open country you feel you could drive forever and never have enough of it. Out on the plains the light is dazzling. Colossal thunderheads trail shawls of rain across horizons wider than the sea, and wherever you look there are animals..

Tanzania - kenya cheetahs

When you think of Africa, you’re probably thinking of Kenya. It’s the lone acacia silhouetted on the savannah against a horizon stretching into eternity. It’s the snow-capped mountain almost on the equator and within sight of harsh deserts.

Why Visit Tanzania ?

Travelers around the world have probably heard of the Serengeti national park in Tanzania, the site of spectacular animal migration: Mt Kilimanjaro, Lake Victoria, Zanzibar island, great cultures and Ngorongoro Crater; Africa’s three Natural wonders. Experience the highlights of the famous Ngorongoro Crater and the Serengeti, home of the annual Migration of Wildebeests and Zebras. The beautiful scenery of the Ngorongoro Crater and the endless plains of the Serengeti will bring you memories that will stay with you a lifetime. Tanzania offers it all in one thinking of mountain climbing, game drives, cultural encounters and then relax on the white sandy Zanzibar beaches? How about combining a Gorilla tracking trip with a beach relaxation highlight? We help you plan great Tanzania safaris.

As a safari destination, Tanzania is unmatched. There is a wide range of safari parks in the north of the country, a number of them among the finest in all of Africa, including the Serengeti, Ngorongoro Crater, Tarangire, Arusha and Lake Manyara. A highlight of any Northern Tanzania safari is meeting the indigenous tribes, such as the Maasai and Hazda. The Maasai are wonderful wildlife guides and a number of our safari itineraries include guided walks with the Maasai.

Tanzania’s Northern Circuit attracts the most visitors, but the Southern parks and reserves of Selous, Ruaha and Katavi are more exclusive and wild; here we offer walking safaris, fly-camping and river safaris as well as 4×4 game drives. Daily flights connecting Selous and Ruaha mean you can combine these two beautiful reserves, ensuring a wonderful safari experience.

In the West of Tanzania, on the shores of Lake Tanganyika, are the parks of Gombe Stream and Mahale, famous for chimp tracking. Mahale is also renowned as a birding paradise. The superb Greystoke Mahale Camp is our favourite place to stay, with an idyllic location on a small sandy bay backed by palm trees and forested slopes. Adding on a few days in Katavi works brilliantly well with Mahale. The recent addition of twice weekly flights from Arusha have made Mahale much more accessible.

All of Tanzania’s parks and reserves are teeming with game. The vast plains of the Serengeti alone support over 3 million large game. Here, between December and July, vast and spectacular columns of wildebeest, zebra and predators begin their spectacular migration from the south to the permanent water in the north.

Both a northern Tanzania safari and a southern Tanzania safari can be combined with Zanzibar, Pemba or Mafia Islands. Those looking to begin or end their Tanzania safari with a beach break should also consider Tanzania’s mainland coast, which boasts a number of beaches and resorts that are well worth a visit.

Zimbo Safaris Uganda can offer a Tanzania safari for every budget. Tanzania has a huge range of properties from luxury lodges to upmarket semi-mobile camps that are moved seasonally with the wildlife. One of our favourite safaris is a light mobile safari, allowing you and your driver/guide to head off for some great wildlife experiences in the bush, carrying your camping gear on the safari vehicle – it’s easy on the budget, and great for getting to know Tanzania in detail.

There are several other praks in Tanzania to consider for a Tanzania safari vacation. A combination of Meru and Kilimanjaro is very rewarding, as Meru offers good acclimatisation for Kilimanjaro, while being a challenging and beautiful mountain in its own right.
